Telford Diploma in Arboriculture - Level 5

The Telford Diploma in Arboriculture is a single year diploma designed for those wishing to take their knowledge of arboriculture to the next level.

Like all of the Telford arboricultural qualifications, the Telford Diploma in Arboriculture has been requested and created by the industry. The Telford Diploma is a theory-based course - but still requires a sound knowledge of practical arboriculture. It's designed for people entering into management positions, or thinking of going down the self-employed track.


What will I study?

The Telford Diploma in Arboriculture is neatly divided into four papers:
  • Arboriculture Tree Management
  • Arboriculture Resource Management
  • Arboriculture Asset
  • Financial Management in Arboriculture Management.

Within those four papers you will study the following topics within an arboricultural context:
  • Plant Physiology
  • Tree Mechanics and Dynamics
  • Contract Management
  • Human and Physical Resource Management
  • Resource Management Legislation
  • Financial Planning, Business Planning
  • Taxation and Data Management


How will I be taught?

The Diploma is primarily taught as a distance learning program backed up by a series of four one-week long block courses repeated at various central locations throughout New Zealand. (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch). Students will also work through workbooks and assignments in their own time.
 

What qualifications will I gain?

Students that successfully complete all parts of this course may gain a Telford Diploma in Arboriculture.

Who can apply?

Applicants must hold a level four qualification in Arboriculture, or demonstrate an equivalent knowledge and understanding through a minimum of 8 years' industry experience.

The increased knowledge you gain from this course will provide many opportunities for employment within an industry where employees capable of progressing into management positions are highly sought after.
