Bryan Gould - Senior Lecturer
Bryan's primary role is to facilitate the Telford Diploma in Arboriculture. He is also the main tutor for the course and is involved in its development and on-going review of all TDA student resource books and addtional materials.Bryan does a great one off course that provides management training in report writing and preparation, plus a range of other NZQA unit standards.
He has extensive experience in private and public sector tree and landscape management and consultancy in England, Australia and New Zealand.
When asked why he enjoys what he does Bryan said:
"I am inspired by the natural world and in particular I am a passionate advocate for trees and arboriculture."
Bryan's knowledge, combined with an infectious enthusiasm for discussing arboricultural issues, enables him to combine his personal interests in the environment with professional commitments in teaching and communicating.
Bryan relates contemporary arboricultural theory into best industry practice. His objective is to ensure students gain a thorough understanding of the wider scope of tree management issues. His aim is to raise awareness of the ecological, social, cultural, political and financial influences that are involved in professional arboricultural management.
Bryan was President of the New Zealand Arboricultural Association from 1996 - 1999.
In his spare time, Bryan enjoys all outdoor activities - especially mountaineering, kayaking and biking. He is married to his best friend Julie and they have two daughters who work in Auckland.
